Gasket seal A gasket seal is used to protect the conductors against humidity and splashes. When humidity seeps into an unprotected membrane switch, migration and oxidation of the conductors can occur. Bolin recommends adding a seal as a precaution if there is humidity or liquid present. EMI / RFI / ESD Shielding EMI : Electro-magnetic interference RFI : Radio frequency interference ESD : Electro-static discharge An aluminum foil shielding is laminated to the circuit to absorb electro-static discharges. The ground can be connected to the switch cable or be separated as a stand-alone cable. If there are transparent windows on your graphic overlay (LCD display for instance), it is possible to use a clear ITO electrical conductive polyester which will provide the same protection as the aluminum shielding.

  • FPC Membrane Keyboard

    FPC Membrane Keyboard

Tiantai electronics custom fpc membrane keyboard will be based on product application, circuit density, conductivity, resistance, whether many electronic components are required, operating environment, customer budget, and whether to pay attention to silver migration. Flexible membrane keyboard assemblies (FPC membrane switch, silver flex membrane switches, and PCB membrane switch). Silver migration usually occurs in Silver Flex Membrane Switches, which is caused by high voltage and humid environments.
  • Resistance Industrial Keypad Membrane Technology

    Resistance Industrial Keypad Membrane Technology

Tactile membrane keypads are designed to provide physical, tactile feedback. The response is typically a “snap” or “click” when the switch is pressed. This is usually a function of a dome switch that is selected for the application. The size, force, and snap required to activate the switch can be customized to your specifications. A non-tactile membrane switch has no tactile response that indicates the button has been pressed. Instead, the response is typically indicated through lights, sound, or reading on the instrument display. With a non-tactile membrane switch, the bottom side of the overlay is connected to a conductive pad, or an upper circuit layer is printed with conductive traces. When the overlay is pressed down the conductive traces connect to the lower circuit layer, which sends a signal to a printed circuit board. Non-tactile membrane switches are more resilient than tactile membrane switches and they are completely sheltered from the outside environment. This allows them to be rated for three times as many activations as a tactile membrane switch.
