Dome size, shape (such as four-legged, triangular, round, or oblong), and material directly influence tactility, key travel, and actuation force. Spacer – The spacer maintains circuit separation and defines travel distance for each keystroke. It contains punctured holes (die-cut windows) directly beneath each keypad position to permit contact between the overlay and the conductive circuit layer, preserving the reliability of the switch actuation. Circuit Layer – The circuitry, often produced via screen printing (with silver, carbon, or copper-based conductive inks) or photochemical etching, forms the functional heart of the device.
